Kakao Bike fares and how to ride (license, service area)
You can easily see people riding electric bicycles and electric kickboards around you. I didn’t ride the Kakao T Bike even though I saw it with my own eyes, but it’s easier to use and ride than I thought, and the fare is cheap, so I use it often these days.
If you were in the metropolitan area, you would have checked Kakao Bike frequently, but not all areas nationwide are Kakao Bike service areas. 카카오바이크 요금
Kakao T Bike belongs to electric bicycles, and I would like to elaborate on how much it costs, whether a license is required, how to use it, etc. 좋은뉴스

Kakao Bike License
You do not need a license to ride a Kakao T Bike (electric bicycle). You don’t need any license, so if you have a Kakao Bike around your house or activity radius, you can use it easily.
Kakao Bike rates and prices
How much is Kakao Bike’s fare and price?
Similar to taxi fares, Kakao T Bike has a basic fare and an additional fee. Not all rates are the same nationwide, but generally the rates are as follows:
Kakao Bike basic fee: 1,500 won (first 15 minutes)
Kakao Bike surcharge: KRW 100 (per minute)
For example, if you ride for 1 hour, the Kakao Bike fare is as follows
1 hour use (KRW 6,000) = KRW 1,500 (first 15 minutes) + KRW 4,500 (additional 45 minutes)
Looking at the evaluation of the Kakao T Bike price and fee, there was an evaluation that it was a bit expensive, but I personally don’t think so. Isn’t 6,000 won per hour a relatively reasonable price?
Of course, if you plan to ride an electric bicycle for only 5 minutes, you have to pay 1,500 won (basic rate) for 5 minutes, so it may feel a bit expensive, but for those who have ridden countless times on Kakao Bike, the price is relatively reasonable.
How to use Kakao Bike, how to ride
People who ride Kakao Bike electric bikes for the first time will not be familiar with how to use or ride. However, even first-timers can ride it in just 2-3 minutes.
A brief summary of how to use and ride the Kakao Bike is as follows:
1. Install the Kakao T app
2. After logging in, register a credit or debit card
3. Bike rental by scanning the QR code
4. Using Kakao T Bike (Driving)
5. Return using a bicycle lock
However, since this explanation can be difficult for first-time users, I would like to explain each step in more detail.
First of all, you need to install the Kakao Taxi app, the Kakao T app (app). If you have ever called a call taxi, you probably already have the Kakao T app installed.

Kakao T App
If you have installed the Kakao T application (app), you can select ‘Bike’ on the first screen. ‘Next to the bike, there’s a ‘scooter too!’ You can check that it is marked, because electric kickboards can also be rented using Kakao T.

Now, let’s take a closer look at how to ride a Kakao T Bike using the Kakao T app. Easy to use in just 3 steps
Step 1: Check nearby Kakao T bikes
Kakao T Bike is not available in all regions of the country. Take the picture below as an example. First of all, based on your current location, Kakao Bikes available around you are displayed.
As quick-witted people may have already noticed, the location of Kakao Bike is marked with a bicycle sign. And since it’s an electric bike, you can see that the battery capacity is also displayed.
If it’s a 5-10 minute ride, the amount of battery doesn’t matter much, but if you’re going to use it for a long time, if possible, go to a place with a Kakao T Bike with enough battery.
For reference, Sing-Sing and the one marked in green are electric kickboards. I will explain this in more detail in another article.

Step 2: After clicking rent, take a QR code
When you click ‘Rent’ in the Kakao T app, a screen to take a QR code appears.
Just point your phone to the QR code on the front of the Kakao Bike.
The QR code is located in the place marked with a red box in the picture below.

Step 3: After a fun ride, return it
When the Kakao Bike QR code is recognized, the lock is unlocked and a voice prompt to ride the Kakao Bike comes out. You can adjust the height of the saddle, so if you feel uncomfortable after riding it, it is better to adjust it before riding.
What you need to be careful about when using Kakao Bike is when you return it. First of all, there is a locking device on the rear wheel of the Kakao T Bike, and you must lock the locking device to end use. If the use is not terminated, additional charges may occur, so be sure to! After use, lock the lock
In the picture below, when the blue lever-like button is pushed down, the app says that the lock is locked, and a message that the use has ended comes out from the app. Then, at the end, there is a question asking you to take a picture for the next user, you may or may not have to.

Kakao Bike service area
I said earlier that you can’t ride a Kakao T Bike anywhere in the country. In other words, there is a separate service area for Kakao Bike.
Of course, it is safe to say that the service is available in Seoul and the metropolitan area based on the current standard, and you can ride Kakao Bike in most areas such as Busan, Daegu, Gwangju, and Ulsan.
However, the Kakao Bike service area is not frequently announced, so the best way is to check if there are bikes nearby on the Kakao T app.
